It is the season of March Madness where basketball
crazies follow their beloved through conference tournaments and endless
NCAA brackets. Guess what? The Baylor Nation gets to be crazy as well
about both of their teams. We expect Coach Kim and the Lady Bears to shine
this time of year but now we have Coach Drew and the men to be excited
about as well.
The men dismantled famed Coach Bobby Knight’s squad
77-66 at the Ferrell Center last night. Aaron Bruce hit 6 of 7 three
pointers to seal the victory. Senior Tommy Swanson ended his career at
home with an outstanding performance as well. (God bless you Tommy for
having the courage to stay with the program when you had the opportunity
to transfer two years ago). The Bears now have a win streak working and in
watching the Aggies beat #1 seed Texas last night you realize what
possibilities exist for the men in the Big XII Tournament. Baylor played
A&M totally heads up in their two matches. As our own Coach Teaff
says, “We Believe”. Support the Bears at the Big XII Tournament in Dallas
next week.

The Ladies were nonetheless magnificent as well in
dispatching the Texas Longhorns 72 to 64. Sophia Young had 28 points and
is now only 3 points shy of the Big XII all-time scoring record. The
Ladies begin the defense of their Big XII Tournament title next week in
Dallas.

Baylor grad Judge Vicki Menard is seeking election to
the 414th District bench in McLennan County. Friends of Baylor
failed to point out in its previous report that there was another
distinguished Baylor Alumnus in the primary race for this important
judicial position. Judge Menard actually holds this position presently as
an appointee of Governor Rick Perry. Judge Menard is also the first female
state district judge in the 155-year history of McLennan County.
From the number of phone calls Friends of
Baylor received to point out the omission, it is obvious that Judge
Menard has a number of Friends herself.

The Baylor Women’s Council held their inaugural event in
the Capital city this week at FOB member Marsha Mayfield Locket’s home.
Fifty enthusiastic Lady Bears attended the first of what will be many
outstanding events by this great organization.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 10th.

Go back and read the first section. It’s “all good”!
Sic’em Bears!

IT HELPS BAYLOR AND IT’S “ALL
