BAYLOR
42 COLORADO 30!
Coach Teaff recorded some terrific radio spots for Baylor this week (click here to download and mp3 file of the ad) wherein he mentioned having participated in a “Miracle” at Baylor and predicted that Baylor was due more of them. We didn’t know he meant the next day! When Coach Teaff says “I BELIEVE”, it’s time for all of us to “BELIEVE”.
BAYLOR IN LINE TO LAND “BLUE CHIPPER” JUAN DIEGO TELLO PALIOS, THE #27 RANKED BASKETBALL PLAYER IN THE NATION, SAYS HE IS CONSIDERING BAYLOR ALONG WITH UCLA, LOUISVILLE AND FLORIDA. Coach Drew is due a big “Sic’em” as well for immediately establishing Baylor as an attractive place for top basketball recruits. The uniqueness of Baylor transcends the events of last summer. Coach Drew understands this and is a great communicator of that concept. Coach Teaff beat Texas ten times with players he attracted with that message. We suspect that Coach Drew will create a similar synergy with his program.
BAYLOR’S VOLLEYBALL TEAM DEFEATS #9 RANKED K-STATE. BAYLOR’S SOCCER TEAM DEFEATS #13 RANKED NEBRASKA.
It is hard for us not to congratulate our new Athletic Director Ian McCaw for a fairly productive first week on the job. Ian, we look forward to your second week.
Success in sports, academic awards and achievements, and a positive portrayal of all of Baylor’s great assets helps us in recruiting new students. This is an important endeavor for the University and one that we should all contribute to. Share the good news about Baylor with families in your communities, churches, and work places. We all need to be recruiters.
UT PRESIDENT RESPECTS BAYLOR’S CULTURE Larry Faulkner, President of The University of Texas, said the following about BU in a speech to the Waco Chamber of Commerce last week:
“…Baylor University and The University of Texas at Austin share many of the same goals -- high academic standards, integrity, greater access and opportunity, a caring and supportive learning environment.” “You are fortunate people because you live in a city that is nurtured and enriched by an outstanding university whose intellectual atmosphere and cultural vibrancy create a special ambience for this community and its citizens. Baylor plays a unique role here -- and a unique role worldwide. ..."
WELCOME NEW STEERING COMMITTEE MEMBERS We are proud to welcome the following notable additions to the ranks of the Steering Committee: State Senator Kip Averitt, State Representative Linda Harper Brown, Gary Haevin, Nancy Waldrop Turner, Sandra Hall Bodenhamer and Ray Huffines. Nancy’s family just started a fourth generation at Baylor and the Huffines family, although mostly car dealer Aggies, love Baylor’s mission and expect that their next generation will produce their first Baylorite. Sandra is daughter of the late Congressman and Judge, Sam Hall, and is married to Coach Morriss’ college teammate and best friend, Don Bodenhamer. Senator Averitt represents the Waco area and Representative Harper Brown represents the Irving area in the State Legislature. Gary Haevin is Chairman & CEO of Curves International.
Sic’em Bears!
