THIS IS HUGE AND HE IS HUGE
By KATE HAIROPOULOS / The Dallas Morning News, October 1, 2004
South Oak Cliff forward Kevin Rogers is off the market.
The 6-9, 240-pound senior said he orally committed to play basketball at Baylor on Thursday night. Rogers said he had wanted to commit for a long time but waited until the final pieces came together. He said his decision came down to Georgia Tech and Baylor.

" I wanted to stay close to home and play in front of my family," Rogers said. "It's a good school academically, and it's a good Christian school."
He also said he thought he could go in and play immediately. Rogers had been linked with Kansas for much of his recruiting process, but the Jayhawks ended up getting a commitment from another big man last month.
Rogers said he took an unofficial visit to Baylor last May.

Rogers said he plans to sign during the NCAA signing period that begins Nov. 10. Oral commitments are nonbinding.
Rivals.com ranks Rogers as the No. 35 player in the nation.

LADY BEARS GET THREE PRIZED COMMITMENTS

Baylor's first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance is paying off with a recruiting
class that should rank as the school's best ever, according to Jerry Hill of
the Waco Tribune-Herald.

All-state guard Jessica Morrow from Humble picked the Lady Bears over Texas, TCU and Texas A&M, while 6 foot 3 inch post Tricia Abbott from Houston Memorial gave coach Kim Mulkey-Robertson her commitment despite offers from Michigan, Rice, Tulane, Princeton and Missouri.

They join 6-1 forward Rachel Allison from Little Rock, Ark., in a group that
is expected to sign on November 10. Allison chose Baylor over such schools as Arkansas, Colorado, A&M, Memphis and Boston College.

Morrow is a two-time all-state pick and district MVP. Abbot, rated the 18th
best prospect in the state by Texas Girls Basketball Report is a first-team
all-district pick, leading the greater Houston area in blocks and rebounds
and was third in scoring.
