The Faculty Senate conducted their referendum
on Dr. Sloan’s Presidency
and approximately ½ of the Faculty participated in the referendum.
Click here to read a press release
from Chairman Will Davis and a faculty group on the subject. Apparently,
this
type situation is occurring on
other campuses as well. Click here to read an identical story regarding
the University of Missouri.
The Faculty at Baylor are an essential component of the University and
the sentiments of those who chose to participate as well as those who
did not support the referendum process should be respected. The Board
of Regents are likewise essential to Baylor and their sentiments, particularly
on the leadership and governance of the University should be absolutely respected. We trust in the wisdom of the Board and would encourage the
entire Baylor
family to do so as well.

Before we have had ample time to enjoy the
2005 men’s basketball
recruiting class, Coach Drew has now started signing major athletes
for the 2006 class. Nationally ranked ones as well! His first is
Demond Carter
of LaPlace, LA. Demond is averaging 30 points a game and is a top 50
ranked player. Equally impressive is Demond’s statement that
he is coming to Baylor because of the godly attitude of the University
and
the coaching staff.

Olympic
gold medal winner Jeremy Wariner was featured in a huge Sports Illustrated
story this week. Coach Hart, the Baylor track program, and
gold metal teammate Darold Williamson also figured prominently in the
story. This is fabulous publicity for the school – Thank you
Jeremy!! Thank you Coach Hart!! Click here toread

Congrats to
FOB Steering Committee member Ted Getterman and his bride (Regent)
Sue for the establishment of this fund. This was done in the
name of their deceased friend John Davis and their long time friend
Sue Davis. John played football for Baylor in the 50’s. The Getterman’s
literally give to every cause and effort you could list at Baylor.
Thanks Ted and Sue for the many things you do to help Baylor.
