Merry Christmas!
Friends of Baylor hopes that you and your families have a blessed and joyous Christmas. How great is it to have a season that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ and to have a University that celebrates his Lordship. Jesus distinguishes our faith from all others and our University’s mission from other major institutions. We are grateful for this gift.
Baylor Men’s Basketball Grounded!
No, we are not being put on probation but due to horrific travel problems Coach Drew and his troops almost didn’t make it to their game at Syracuse this past weekend. A cancelled (only flight of the day!) American Airlines flight into Syracuse, NY, missing luggage, late night transfers through Washington, DC, borrowed sneakers, no sleep, etc. put our players at quite a disadvantage for their game against highly ranked Syracuse. Click here to get the story. The road trip began pleasantly enough as the team and staff were hosted for dinner by Dallas fans and supporters.
Who knew that the event for the team was akin to a HMS Titanic Launch Party. All was not lost however as freshman Tweety Carter scored 31 points against Syracuse. As a freshman, he probably thought all road trips were this much fun. See pictures left and below.

As Promised, Jay Allison on MSNBC
Check out Baylor Regent Jay Allison and team opening NYSE last week in honor of Comstock Resources 10 year Anniversary on the Exchange. Another Grant Teaff pupil who did well. Sic’em Jay.

Baylor Christmas Tree has Lots of Recruit Presents
Santa must have thought that Coach Knoll, Coach Morriss and Coach Harbour were a lot “nicer” then “naughty” this year because he has brought some of the greatest recruiting presents that Baylor has ever received, with the #1 nationally ranked baseball recruiting class already in the barn, Track Coach Todd Harbour has inked the #2 best recruiting class in the country, Tennis Coach Matt Knoll signed the #2 ranked player in America, Attica Bucko, and Coach Morriss has pledges from over 20 outstanding football recruits that (if signed in February) represent the 31st best class in the nation. One of Coach Morriss’ recruits, Chris Francis (son of James Francis) made a game saving 4th down/goal line tackle to secure a playoff win for his Cedar Hill team over Garland High School this past Saturday. Baylor’s overall coaching staff for all sports is truly outstanding. Support them and their teams every chance you get.
Sic’em Bill and Mary Jo Robbins!
Baylor University has announced a gift from William and Mary Jo Robbins of Houston, Texas, to construct The Robbins Chapel in Brooks Village. Bill, a Friends of Baylor Steering Committee member, and Mrs. Robbins are longtime supporters of Baylor. The new Chapel will provide students a place for everyday prayer, meditation and worship.
Baylor Magazine
Congrats to Editor Barbara Elmore and staff for the terrific winter ’07 edition of Baylor Magazine. The content and presentation of the magazine is interesting, positive and insightful. Lead by a cover story about the Baylor Religion Survey and including such fun items as a double-page picture of the sold out BU-A&M football game, this is a “must read” edition. Visit www.baylormag.com for more information.
