GREAT WEEK FOR BASKETBALL!

It is a new and developing blessing to be able to celebrate victories for the Lady Bears and Coach Drew’s cagers at the same time. The Lady Bears destroyed Nebraska last night 91-69 while the men won by an even larger margin, 90-64, over Mizzou Tuesday night. We have come to expect dominate performances by our defending National Champion Lady Bears, but the men’s statement of authority against the Tigers was a whole new treat. For those who were not in attendance or missed the Regional TV broadcast, the men were awesome. The game included incredible outside shooting (Curtis Jerrells had 28 points), intimidating blocked shots, no look passes and stupefying dunks. This was not conservatively played – hold’em close – have a chance to win at the end game. It was a terrific display of athletic talent and more than a slight hint as to what the future of Baylor men’s basketball will be.

Congrats to Coach Drew and Coach Kim

FULLBRIGHT FEAST

A Baylor record four students were awarded Fullbright Scholarships last week. Baylor typically will have a student receive this prestigious award every four years or so. To have four winners in one year is a wonderful achievement both for the students themselves as well as for the academic reputation of the University. The fruits of Baylor 2012 continue to be plentiful. Congrats to all the winners and thanks for the great reflection you are for Baylor.

BAYLOR TO GET A NEW BROOKS VILLAGE

The Baylor Board of Regents approved the development of a new Brooks Residential Village at their meeting last week. The new residence hall represents a significant upgrade in the residential experience the BU students will enjoy.

The facilties at Baylor continue to be improved as planned with the Baylor 2012 Growth Strategy. It is a great time to be on campus!

BAYLOR STUDENT-ATHLETES SCORE OFF THE FIELD

A school record 187 student-athletes from Baylor made the Big XII Commissioner’s Honor Roll. This mark coupled with Baylor’s league leading graduation rate speaks well for our student-athletes and Athletic Director Ian McCaw’s program. Congrats to all.
