HOW CAN WE HELP BAYLOR?

It is the stated mission of Friends of Baylor to help support our University. Stylistically we have opted to be straightforward with our news and endeavored to opine or editorialize as little as possible. But not today……

Today is a great day to commit ourselves in love to do things to help Baylor; to focus on all of that is good about her; to identify with and walk in the Christian identity that is unique to our University; as representatives of Baylor to do all that we can to expand God’s Kingdom. Today is an even better day to dial down the mean spirited rhetoric and cease the celebration of dissenting opinions.

Our Board of Regents has exhaustively inventoried, entertained and considered the entirety of opinion that differed philosophically or procedurally with Vision 2012 and its implementation by Dr. Sloan’s Administration. The Board was diligent, prayerful, and probably set the world record for “due process”.

They affirmed Vision 2012, with appropriate adjustments. They affirmed the direction they had previously charted while suggesting more user-friendly procedures for implementing Vision 2012. The Alumni Association arrangement was negotiated and consummated with the blessings of all. Our financial model was revised to accommodate our near term economy and it was determined that we are not going broke.

If you want to know how to help Baylor then support our program, our Board’s wise decisions and our President. “This is the time. This is the season.” (See Chapter 20 of "The Purpose Driven Life").

Those of us from Waco, please put your own personal thoughts about our alma mater into a letter to the editor and send it for publication to the Waco Tribune-Herald, Box 2588, Waco, Texas 76702; FAX: (254) 757-0302; E-mail: letters@wacotrib.com.

If you wish, we will forward your letter to the Board of Regents for their own personal reading. Just send the text of your letter to us at: support@friendsofbaylor.com.

LADY BEARS ROAR!

The Lady Bears opened the Big XII tournament with a win over Kansas on Tuesday and then achieved a huge victory over #9 Texas Tech yesterday. Tech, who had eked out two wins over Baylor in the regular season, was dominated by BU throughout the game. The Lady Bears led essentially the entire game with leads as high as 16 points. The only cloud of the afternoon was star Steffanie Blackmon’s knee injury late in the game. Our hopes and prayers are for Steffanie’s health.

Come support the Ladies against UT at 6:00 pm tonight at Reunion Arena in Dallas.
