CHEERS TO THE REGENTS!
We owe a debt of thanks to our Regents (especially Committee Chairmen Will Davis, Dale Jones, Howie Batson, and Joe Armes) for their tireless efforts with the Special Committees. The reports of the committees were delivered at the Regent meeting last week and then distilled into directives. (See links below). Thousands of man-hours were involved in hearings and deliberations in order to produce these well-considered documents.

The Audit Review Committee, after study of the significant aspects of the Baylor University long-term financial model and various related matters, presented a report and proposed recommendations to the Board of Regents. The recommendations were adopted by the Board. The University long-term financial model is revised annually to account for changing economic conditions and various other factors. A balanced budget for 2004/05 is being required by the Board. In addition, the Board will consider for approval a revised long-term financial model prepared by the Administration.

BRAZOS BASKETBALL JOY
We knew Coach Kim and the Lady Bears were going to be good this season, but we could have only dreamed of the statement they would make. A #14 national ranking, sweeping OU, beating Texas at home and taking them to double overtime in Austin, and a likely berth in the NCAA tournament this month. These Ladies are exciting, intensely competitive and exceedingly well coached. We can’t wait for the Big XII and NCAA tournaments.

Although not tournament eligible, Coach Drew and the men’s team are nonetheless shaking up the league in their own right. Three conference wins and down-to-the wire contests with nationally ranked OSU and Missouri last week have the whole country talking about this teams effort (click here or see link below) and their inspirational coach. Coach Drew handles everything with class including the recently released NCAA report. We predict Coach Drew and his Bears will be packing Ferrell Center in the very near future.

COLLEGE BOWL TEAM TO COMPETE FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Our academic competitors won their regional tournament and now head to Alabama to compete with Georgetown, University of Chicago, Dartmouth and Cornell for the national academic championship. This is the first time in the 50-year history of the competition that Baylor has advanced to this level. Baylor beat Rice, among others, to advance.

HORTON FOOTE AMERICAN PLAYWRIGHT FESTIVAL
