BEARS SWEEP AGGS!
The Fightin’ Baylor Bears baseball team took a large step towards another Big XII Championship with a clean sweep of the Texas A&M Aggies. The win yesterday, in College Station, coupled with a Nebraska loss to Texas Tech positions BU with a 2 game lead with one week to go in the regular season. A tough 3 game series with Mizzou is the last obstacle to the championship. A Baylor win or a Nebraska loss of any one game next weekend would secure the title for the Bears. Congrats Coach Smith and Good Luck!

GAME, SET, MATCH FOR BOTH TENNIS TEAMS
Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams secured impressive victories last weekend in the NCAA Tournament. The men dispatched U.T. (Again!) and now face A&M on their home court in the next round. The Lady Bears defeated BYU and now face the winner of the Florida/Florida International match on Thursday, May 19.

BAYLOR JUDGE PRISCILLA OWEN IN BATTLE!
Baylor grad and Texas Supreme Court Justice Priscilla Owen is in the middle of the Republican vs. Democrat fight over the President’s Federal Judicial Appointments. The Demo’s are threatening to filibuster her appointment and the Repub’s are threatening to change the rules of the Senate if they do. Friends of Baylor is not in the business of taking national political positions, but we would like to acknowledge Judge Owen’s Baylor credentials and the great judicial reputation she enjoys in Texas.

CONGRATS ED CRENSHAW!
The new Student Foundation Building at Baylor will bear (no pun intended) the name of FOB Steering Committee Member Ed Crenshaw. Ed is a fabulous Baylor supporter and is President of PUBLIX, Inc., the large grocery chain headquartered in Lakeland, Florida. Ed helped start the Student Foundation while a student at Baylor. Sic’em Ed!

LADY BEARS SOFTBALL IN NCAA TOURNAMENT!
The Lady Bears will continue their terrific season by traveling to Alabama to take on Florida A&M in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Ladies came within a hair of the Big XII Championship game last weekend. They beat Big XII regular season champ Texas A&M to advance to the semi’s.

It is a very good weekend indeed when BU beats Texas in tennis, A&M in softball and skunks A&M in baseball. School may be out for the summer but Baylor has 4!! teams still competing.
