Dub Oliver Named Vice President for Student Life

The well-regarded and highly popular Dub Oliver has dropped “Interim” from his title and is now the permanent Vice President for Student Life.  The search committee and President John Lilley conducted a national search that concluded with Dub’s selection this week.  Chair of the search committee, Dr. Jack Tubbs, stated that “the entire student body, both present and future, will benefit from his longstanding and faithful commitment to the Christian faith and Baylor University.” Sic’em Dub!

Regents Vacationing in Waco

The Baylor Board of Regents will convene next Wednesday in Waco for their annual retreat.  Mid-July retreats are a rarity for central Texas so you gotta love their commitment. 

Remember This Name: LaceDarius Dunn

LaceDarius Dunn is the latest in what is becoming a long line of nationally ranked men’s basketball recruits to commit to Baylor.  The soon to be senior at Excelsior Christian of Louisiana is already ranked the 25th best recruit in the nation and his stock is rising.  Watch for news about this outstanding athlete.  Coach Drew and his staff know how to sell Baylor! Congrats to LaceDarius and Coach Drew’s team!

This is the date that Coach Guy Morriss’ troops hit the field to do battle with the Horned Frogs of TCU.  Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm at Floyd Casey Stadium.  The game is on a Sunday and will be televised so we need the stadium filled.  It is also Labor Day weekend so you can recuperate on Monday by reading all the sports page coverage of our victory.  Sic’em Bears!

Watch the Bears in Canada

Actually, you can watch the Baylor Bear football team play Washington State in Seattle on September 16th and then be a tourist in Vancouver with other Baylor fans.  The Bear Foundation is organizing the trip.  For more detailed information call 1-800-638-9896.

Freshman Class Still On Track To Set New Academic Standard

Next year’s freshman class, based on 2,922 net deposits has a mean SAT score of 1212 as compared to 1194 on the same date last year.  Wow!  Sic’em 2012!
