Something to Holler About
Bears Whoop Notre Dame!
Rainbows of hope in the form of game ending 3-pointers by Curtis Jerrells and LaceDarius Dunn shined through the storm clouds of the just ended football season as Scott Drew’s hoopsters stunned Notre Dame 68 to 64. The men have now beaten two teams to advance to the finals of the Paradise Jam tournament in the Virgin Islands. Baylor overcame a 12-point deficit to beat the favored Fighting Irish. Curtis Jerrells’ 3-pointer with 2 minutes to play gave Baylor its first lead of the game and LaceDarius Dunn’s 3-pointer with about a minute to go gave the Bears the lead for good.
The Bears will now play Winthrop, who upset Georgia Tech 79 to 73, in the finals tonight at 7:30 pm CST. Winthrop, although a small school, is large in the basketball world as a perennial NCAA Tournament team. Make no mistake about it, Scott Drew, his staff and players represent Baylor well. They are fine men, players, athletes, students and coaches. And, they can ball!!
Coach Guy Morriss and Baylor Part
The University announced yesterday that Coach Guy Morriss will not return as head football coach for the Bears. Coach Morriss did many things to improve the Baylor football program for which we are all grateful. There is always an abundance and wide variety of opinions concerning coaching changes. We trust in the discernment of Athletic Director Ian McCaw that this decision was in the best interest of Baylor and in his ability to choose a new coach. Baylor absolutely, unequivocally can field a competitive football program. Coach Teaff proved this with his 20 year reign with a whole lot less resources and facilities than we have today. Baylor, with the right leader, the right resources and the right commitment will get us right back where we belong.
Sic’em Ian and THANKS COACH MORRISS!

Friends of Baylor Homecoming
Friends of Baylor Steering Committee members, faculty, students and 150+ other friends enjoyed their annual Homecoming parade viewing party from the balconies of Clifton Robinson’s downtown headquarters and then heard interesting presentations from Chairman of the Board of Regents Harold Cunningham and Athletic Director Ian McCaw. Chairman Cunningham, in addition to extolling the accomplishments of 2012, emphasized the importance of the upcoming capital campaign to increase the University’s endowment. Noting the number of significant athletic donors in the crowd he appealed for similar support for the endowment campaign. Although unannounced at that time, the Robinson family’s $5 million gift to the University’s endowment has now been announced. Ian regaled the group with statistics regarding the number of Baylor teams that competed in the national tournaments in their respective sports as well as Baylor’s consistent high academic rankings both in the Big XII and nationally. A great Chairman, a great Athletic Director, a great crowd, a great parade……a great day!
Thanks to Clifton and his staff for all their hospitality.
Robbins Chapel to Be Dedicated
Special part of Brooks Residential College
The crown jewel of Brooks Residential College, the Robbins Chapel will be dedicated Wednesday, November 28th. The thought and detail that went into this inspirational chapel is truly amazing. Due to the generosity of Bill and Mary Jo Robbins, Baylor students for many generations will have a unique place for private worship and a beautiful visual remembrance of their days on campus. We give thanks to our fellow Friends of Baylor Steering Committee member Bill Robbins and his wife Mary Jo for their faith and for their gifts to the faiths of many to come.
