Hoops Heaven!
Both Baylor basketball teams ranked
The evidence is irrefutable. Baylor 2012 is paying huge dividends. The intent of Baylor 2012 was for Baylor, without apologies for its distinctive Christian identity and mission, to be excellent in all things. The significant investment in athletic facilities, coaching staffs and academic support for student-athletes prescribed by Baylor 2012 is producing an unprecedented level of success and anyone who doubts Baylor’s commitment to excellence in athletics is just not paying attention.
BaylorProud is going a great job of reporting on the cumulative successes of our men’s and women’s basketball programs and of course the news just got a whole lot better over the weekend. For the first time since 1969 the Associated Press poll has ranked the Baylor men. We are 25th in the nation (out of 341 schools)! From the bottom 25 to the top 25 in four short years! We are tempted to use non-Baptist adjectives to describe the glee felt by the entire Baylor nation.
Not to be outdone, Coach Kim’s ladies are ranked 6th in the nation (only seven universities in the country have both their men’s and women’s teams ranked) after a fabulous road victory against #11 in the nation, Oklahoma. The win snapped a six-game losing streak to the mighty Paris twins of Oklahoma. Point guard Angela Tisdale had a career high 35 points as Baylor broke the hearts of 12,000 fans at Lloyd Noble Center. While Baylor is presently 4-0 in Big 12 play, their main in-state rivals: U.T., Texas Tech and A&M are all 1-3!
The men, in beating Nebraska in Lincoln, broke a 25 game losing streak for Big 12 road games. No more losing streaks. Forty year drought of not being ranked – over! First major tournament win in forty years. All of the jinxes, curses, droughts, and losing streaks are gone. The Bears are back.

Spring sports fixin’ to bloom
It is hard not to get carried away with the likely national recognition our “other” spring semester sports teams will inevitably bring to BU. Tennis, track, softball and baseball are all soon to be in full bloom and each team is respectively expected to be highly ranked nationally and capable of contending for the national championship for their sport.
You won’t find a student in a Baylor uniform anywhere on a field by the Brazos that isn’t excellent. Ian McCaw, Baylor 2012, all of our coaches…..bless you and Sic’em!
Baylor 2012
A great plan and a great address
That’s right, Baylor 2012 has as a key component of its vision, an important living address – the campus. Creating a truly residential campus environment is an essential part of this great plan. With the additions of Brooks College and the North Village an all-time record number of students are living on campus which richly enhances the overall collegiate experience. The Living and Learning programs in particular are producing important academic, social and developmental outcomes. Recent studies support, by all measurements, the terrific success of the Living-Learning experience (for more information contact Dr. Frank Shushok, Jr., Dean for Student Learning & Engagement).
Every single aspect of Baylor 2012 is maturing and producing wonderful results. Friends of Baylor congratulates all those who are making Baylor 2012 work so well.
Sic’em 2012!
